Games Gathering Bratislava Call for Speakers

Games Gathering will be returning to Bratislava with an online and live format taking place from Sep 25-27.

In order to make the event accessible to everyone, particularly those who can’t travel, the 25th will be a one-day online event of talks and networking. The physical conference will kick off with a pre-party on the 25th and run through the 27th at the Hotel Tatra.

The event will feature lectures of industry experts and networking opportunities. The call for speakers is currently open. Apply to speak using this form.

Baltic Dev Days Are Back!

Baltic Dev Days, Europe's largest international non-profit game developer conference, will be held at the Atlantic Hotel Kiel in Kiel, Germany on June 1-2, 2023.

Around 600 people from twenty different countries are anticipated to attend the event to share knowledge and network. Through lectures and hands-on workshops, over 50 professionals from the games industry and other areas that overlap with games will share essential expertise. A free Indie Expo is the final piece of the puzzle that will provide 15 developers from Germany and the Baltic Sea countries with the opportunity to present their games. Furthermore, because there is no meeting system, speakers, experts, and all attendees will have ample time to provide valuable feedback.

The IGDA Game Accessibility Special Interest Group volunteers have worked since 2003 to aid the game industry in making games accessible for all, regardless of impairments or other limitations. The European conference is a hybrid event taking place in London and online April 24-25. Submit Your Game to DevGAMM Gdansk 2023

DevGAMM will hold its first conference in Gdańsk, Poland at the AmberExpo on March 1-2.

DevGAMM Gdańsk will be done in collaboration with Digital Vikings, which was born out of an idea of matching indie developers with publishers and investors.

The game developers can already submit games for DevGAMM Showcase, to present their projects to all the attendees, get a booth, invite guests for a play test, and find partners. The submission deadline is January 25.

Moreover, the event program will include the Digital Vikings Awards, which is a brand-new competition for indie game developers. The event will also host The Best Indie Publisher of 2022 award. The developers will compete in 6 categories:

Best Multiplayer Co-op
Hidden Gem
Best Solo-Dev Game
Best Art Style

The winners will be announced during DevGAMM Gdańsk 2023 on March 2. Submit your game until January 25.

Education for Game Industry Harassment contact persons!

The Finnish game industry organizations are arranging a training event for everybody who might have to deal with harassment cases at work or volunteer work.

The event is organized in cooperation with Sexpo Foundation. The specialist on the topic will be Tommi Paalanen, Executive Director at Sexpo Foundation.

WINTER HAS ARRIVED! and so has the traditional Xmas party of IGDA Helsinki sponsored by ROVIO!

As always, second Tuesday of the month from 17:00 onwards, we gather at Maxine to share thoughts and connect with our community. This special Xmas themed Meetup is done in collaboration with Rovio Entertainment and they have THREE interesting talks prepared for us, starting at 18:00 📣 Tuesday 13th of December!


Heini Kaihu is Rovio’s Chief Sustainability Officer. She has been with the company since 2012, having held positions such as Head of Studio (Games) as well as Head of HR. Before joining Rovio, Heini had a long career at Sulake, where she worked across the organisation in various leadership positions such as EVP Product and a member of the Leadership Team. Her dedication drives her to continuously improve on the positive impact game companies have on social and environmental sustainability.

Topic: What does sustainability mean for gaming companies? Trends and a little peek into the future.


Petri Hyökyranta is Rovio’s Chief Technology Officer. He has been with the company since 2011. During his career, he has been part of several digital business initiatives for different sized companies in different maturity stages. In many of these, he has held an instrumental role leading work, building teams and structures and turning business requirements into new long-term business and production systems. He has experience from multiple different operational models, including working as a service provider, with service providers and with partly or fully outsourced resources.

Topic: Rovio’s Beacon platform: what is it and how it helps us craft joy to players.


Miika Tams is the Head of Studio at Rovio’s Puzzle studio (and loving it!). He’s a true industry veteran, with over 23 years of games experience behind him, including PC, consoles, mobile and F2P since day one.

Game Design seminar at IGDA Helsinki meetup with Ubisoft Redlynx

This Meetup is done in collaboration with Ubisoft RedLynx and they have prepared a game design seminar by Isaque Sanches, starting at 18:00!

In his design-oriented talk, Isaque Sanches from Ubisoft RedLynx will explore common reasons why game prototypes often are ill-adjusted to their envisioned projects and propose a few tips on how to avoid those pitfalls.

Isaque Sanches is a Senior Game Designer at Ubisoft RedLynx.
He has worked on games of various genres, sizes (indie, AA, AAA), audiences, and platforms (PC, console, mobile, XR) and began his career in game development as a programmer.
