IGDA Finland March Gathering with Lexia and PlayRaven

One month gone by and we had again a cool and exciting night at Club Adams. The March Gathering of IGDA Finland was a success, a big thank you to our sponsors Lexia and PlayRaven! This time we had not one or two, but three amazing speakers from game industry: Applift, DeNA and Level3.

Applift is a mobile games marketing platform developer, and their presentation was about monetization through native ad-units.

DeNA is a mobile services developer and operator and they talked about mobile game design for Asian users. They compared the differences between China, Japan and Korea, i.e. what kind of games people are playing.

Level3 is one of the world's' six Tier 1 operators, and they talked about showcasing early doors co-operation of studios and Internet providers for online gaming business.

After the super interesting presentations the sponsors had their time on stage as well. Lexia Attorneys presented the company's high professional insight of legal sides of financing, with a smart attitude.

The CEO Lasse Seppänen from PlayRaven asked "Do you want to talk about art?" and the audience answered with cheering yes. Seppänen presented the company's design philosophy and a world premiere sneak peek to the art of their soon-to-be-published game Spymaster. Seppänen also had the current version of the game with him and the most eager ones were able to test it out. And there was a queue.

IGDA Finland February Gathering with Amazon Web Services and VIOPE

The February gathering of IGDA Finland was teeming with eager guests as Amazon Web Services held a presentation about their latest game development tools and there was also a message from the Finnish Game Jam 2014 that attracted over 700 jammers all around Finland, the biggest FGJ to date! 

One of the main events of the evening though was Viope’s announcement of the Game Development World Championship 2013 winners. The competition attracted developers from 79 countries as participants competed in the Student or the Pro track. Congratulations to Hopping Penguin (Winner of the student track) and Like a Boss (Winner of the pro track and the main prize)! IGDA Finland March Gathering with Lexia and PlayRaven

It’s almost time for the March Gathering! This month we’ll have three awesome speakers for you in IGDA Finland Presentations. These guests of honor represent the mobile games marketing platform developer Applift, mobile services developer and operator DeNA and one of the world’s six Tier 1 Internet operators, Level3. More details about each of their topics will be announced later this week on Facebook and in the reminder email. The presentations start at 17:00.

IGDA Finland February Gathering with Amazon Web Services and VIOPE

Now that the year has finally gotten to a great start, we decided to ramp it up in IGDA Finland February Gathering.

First up we have a small message from this year’s awesome Finnish Game Jam 2014. After that the people from Amazon Web Services will give you a short intro on how gaming companies are leveraging their platform. And last but not least is the VIOPE crew presenting the Game Development World Championship 2013 which has reached its end. The 4-month-long competition drew massive attention of developers from 79 countries around the globe. It’s now time to reveal the finalists and announce the winners. IGDA Finland January Gathering with Applifier

This week Tuesday meant Club Adams would be full of game developers from dawn till dusk – and beyond! – as LevelUp, the game development tour organized together with Microsoft and Unity, started its second day early in the morning and continued till late in the afternoon. No doubt many great games were worked on and we will be looking forward to seeing the fruits of everyone's labors!

After a hard day of work it was time for everyone to grab their well-earned drink tickets and put them to good use. Before the attendees were too engaged in their chatter however, the gathering sponsor Applifier shared the highlights of their service Everyplay which monetizes with video ads, brings you high quality users and provides game replays for users to share.

Whether it was the belated winter or possibly prolonged holidays that kept a lot of people at home, it was still another successful gathering with a grand total of 177 attendees. Thanks for everyone who showed up and those who made it possible – until next time!
