IGDA Finland April Gathering: After GDC2010
Thanks everyone for the great party in April! Little over 100 people attended IGDA Finland April Gathering at the Cuba Cafe. The talks went around GDC2010, Alan Wake and Nordic Game funding. Nordic Game Conference is just a week away! GDC2010 was all about social gaming and Uncharted 2. Independent games were well represented as well this year. GDC attracted record audience of 18250 visitors -- out of which at least 50+ were from Finland. Guys & gals from Recoil to Inaria Interactive, IronStar Helsinki to Remedy, Rovio, Redlynx and others were there. Other than GDC, Nordic Game and upcoming game releases -- just sweet good time with fellow developers. For those who haven't been at the GDC here is "GDC in a nutshell" for you. GDC consists of two-day summits, expo and the main conference. This year the quality of summits (first two days) were good -- lots of good insights. Indie, social, localization, mobile / iPhone and Serious games summits were running in parallel. Besides the summits and the main conference and expo there is a lot of business, luncheons and other events happening outside the conference. Various IGDA SIGs were also well represented at the GDC. At the expo 3D gaming and Playstation Move were playable at the Sony stand. I was happy to see Super Stardust 3D there as well :)
You can find some GDC2010 presentations from the GDC Vault for free.
